Are Beverages bad for your health -

We talked to health experts Barbara Kovalenko, a doctor and nutritional consultant at Lasta, Catherine Karnatz, a registered dietitian, and Jesse Feder, a personal trainer, registered dietitian, and a contributor to My Crohn's and Colitis Team, to find out some of the worst high-sugar drinks that could be holding you back from achieving your weight loss goals. They identified three major contributors: milkshakes, alcoholic beverages, and sodas.
Soda
Beverages like soda are one source of added sugar that we may not be aware of. Sugar intake can be significantly reduced by limiting soda consumption. Kovalenko and other health experts advise women over 40 to avoid soda.
She elaborates, "Soda is high in added sugar, which can cause weight gain and raise the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease." In addition, soda has been linked to an increased risk of certain types of cancer and is known to be a major contributor to the obesity epidemic. Simply put, soda is full of empty calories and should be avoided at all costs." Yikes!
Karnatz concurs that sodas attempt to sneak in a lot of unnecessary soda. She points out that sugar contains four calories per gram, which can quickly add up and result in weight gain over time. After drinking soda, our blood sugar rises quickly, making us feel hungry and want more sugar to satisfy our sweet tooth cravings.
Kovalenko suggests avoiding energy drinks, just like soda. Most of the time, this beverage has a lot of added sugars and a lot of caffeine. Legal stimulants are known to raise blood pressure, heart rate, and breathing, in addition to increasing alertness and energy. Sugar and caffeine in energy drinks can make you feel jittery, anxious, and have your heart beat faster. They can also raise blood pressure, which can be dangerous for people who already have high blood pressure," she continues. Additionally, excessive consumption of energy drinks may result in addiction and withdrawal symptoms when stopped."

Karnatz suggests substituting flavored seltzer for soda in order to "satisfy your thirst for a bubbly beverage" instead of soda. Additionally, "Add an orange slice, a wedge of lemon or lime, or a splash of your favorite 100% fruit juice for some extra taste without adding in a ton of calories" is a suggestion for enhancing the dish's flavor. "Herbal teas, green tea, or Matcha tea are great options that provide a natural boost of energy," Kovalenko says of healthy alternatives to energy drinks.
Drinks containing alcohol
Experts warn that if you're trying to lose a few pounds, you might want to think twice before drinking too much alcohol. Kovalenko advises against finishing that second bottle of beer or glass of wine outright.
"A wide range of negative health effects, including liver disease, cancer, and addiction, can result from excessive alcohol consumption. According to Kovalenko, "alcohol can also disrupt the balance of chemicals in the brain, causing mood swings, depression, and anxiety." In addition, excessive drinking can result in addiction and negatively affect relationships, work, and overall quality of life."

If consumed frequently, they will almost certainly result in weight gain and other harmful health conditions like diabetes and heart disease."
