John Legend and Chrissy Teigen reveal the name and first adorable photo of their daughter: So thankful
Previous: "Every appointment I’ve said to myself, "ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce," but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still," Chrissy Teigen claps back at commenters who believe she has been "pregnant forever." I don't think I will ever leave an appointment feeling more nervous than excited, but everything so far is beautiful and perfect, and I feel hopeful and amazing. Okay, thank goodness it's been hard to keep this secret for so long!"
At 20 weeks of pregnancy, Teigen and Legend lost their third child, Jack, in 2020.
Teigen stated that she wanted to inspire women in similar circumstances by sharing her pregnancy loss with the public. "As many as 10 to 15% of confirmed pregnancies" experience pregnancy loss, according to the Office on Women's Health.
Chrissy Teigen tells USA TODAY in April 2021, "I'm happy to be the one to be able to yell loudly from the rooftops and talk about my uterus and talk about my everything." Teigen had an abortion while her unborn son was dying "to save my life." I will be that person, and I'm happy to do so, if it will inspire other women to believe they can succeed."
Teigen opened up about the 2020 loss in September, referring to the medical event as an abortion, following the Supreme Court's June decision to overturn the landmark 1973 decision that protected the right to an abortion.
Teigen stated, "two years ago, when I was pregnant with Jack, John, and my third child, I had to make a lot of difficult and heartbreaking decisions" at a summit in California. According to the Hollywood Reporter, "it became very clear around the halfway point that he would not survive, and that I would not either without any medical intervention."
