The iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro is the most recent iPhone model. However, there will be an iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and possibly even an iPhone 15 Ultra in 2023.

iPhone 14 compared to iPhone 15: potential cost and availability
With a $799 basic iPhone 14, a $999 iPhone 14 Pro, and a $1,099 iPhone 14 Pro Max, Apple maintained the same prices for the iPhone 14 as it had for previous flagship iPhone generations. The only difference was that the iPhone 13 mini, which cost $699, was replaced by the new iPhone 14 Plus, which cost $899.
However, prices outside of the United States did rise, with the iPhone 14 costing £849 in the United Kingdom, £949 in the iPhone 14 Plus, £1,099 in the iPhone 14 Pro, and £1,199 in the iPhone 14 Pro Max—all of which were at least £100 more expensive than the comparable iPhone 13 models.
Similar circumstances exist in Australia, where the iPhone 14 costs AU$1,399, the iPhone 14 Plus costs AU$1,579, the iPhone 14 Pro costs AU$1,749, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max costs AU$1,899, respectively.
The prices of the iPhone 15 haven't been leaked or rumored yet, and it probably won't be long before these decisions are made anyway. Although some of the rumors of upgrades suggest that Apple will feel justified in asking for even more money for its most recent iPhones, we can only hope that there will not be any further price increases.
Having said that, if there is going to be an iPhone 15 Ultra, Apple may make it available at a brand-new, higher-than-ever price to justify the name, as was the case with the most recent Apple Watch Ultra, which was priced higher than the Apple Watch 8.
In terms of a launch date, we can fairly confidently assume that Apple will demonstrate the following generation of iPhones in September 2023. At this point, the Apple mid-fall product launch, during which new iPhones are introduced, is effectively set in stone in the tech world's calendar.
The Apple September 2022 event took place on September 7, immediately following Labor Day. Therefore, the iPhone 15 would be unveiled at an event on September 6, 2023, if the company continued in the same pattern.
iPhone 14 compared to iPhone 15: display and design
With a few minor exceptions, the iPhone 14 family looks pretty much the same as previous generations. The front selfie camera is housed in either a notch (on the basic models) or a Dynamic Island (on the Pro models). All four versions have flat sides. The Pro models have always-on display capabilities, a 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate, and a higher peak brightness, while the non-Pro models have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch OLED displays (although there is no 5.4-inch option now that the mini is gone).
Although the iPhone 15 may not significantly differ from the iPhone 14, there may be some significant changes. On some models, these include curved edges on the phone's back and solid-state buttons. The latter design modification might make it easier to hold and use the new iPhones.
A novel LTPO OLED display that is said to last longer than current OLED displays may also be used in the iPhone 15. Sounds great for people who want to get the most out of their phones for as long as possible (everyone who buys smartphones).
The alleged addition of titanium side rails to some iPhone 15 models—likely the Pro and Ultra models—is another change to keep an eye out for. This is a rumor that we've heard about previous iPhone generations, which, of course, never happened. However, the persistent rumors that Apple will use this extremely durable metal appear to indicate that the company is still considering doing so.
iPhone 14 compared to iPhone 15: cameras
When the iPhone 13 was discontinued, the iPhone 14 introduced two significant camera enhancements. The first was a 48MP main camera on the Pro models and an auto-focusing selfie camera on all four models.
A new Sony-made camera sensor with improved exposure control compared to the iPhone's current Samsung-made camera sensors could be added to the iPhone 15, as would 48MP main cameras on base models, but not the same ones as the Pro phones.
With a new periscope telephoto lens that would allow for more than the current 3x optical magnification, Apple could go even further. It might use parts from the same supplier as Samsung. It is said to have a optical zoom of up to 6x, beating out a lot of the competition, including the Galaxy S22, which has a zoom of 3x, and both the current and upcoming iPhones. However, that is insufficient to surpass the best smartphones for telephoto photography, such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, which features a 10x optical zoom.
This new periscope zoom camera may only be available for the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra), which would leave the regular-sized Pro out of the picture and mean that there would be no significant difference in photography between it and the iPhone 14 Pro models. This is an annoying caveat.
The possibility that the iPhone 15 Ultra model has two front cameras is an even wilder rumor. We don't know what the second camera would be used for, but it could be used to take ultrawide shots or assist Apple in its rumored plans for augmented reality and virtual reality.
iPhone 14 compared to iPhone 15: specs
Beyond photography, there are some other rumors about how the iPhone 15 will (or won't) differ from the iPhone 14. For one, we'll apparently see another two-tier chipset situationwith next year's iPhones, just like we saw this year with the A15 chip (from the iPhone 13 Pro series) in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and the new A16 chip in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The regular iPhone 15 models are said to be getting the A16 chipset, while the iPhone 15 Pro models will be equipped with a fresh 3-nanometer chipset, which we'd assume will be called the A17 Bionic. That'll likely mean some iPhone 14 models could be just as powerful as some iPhone 15 models, although all will still probably outperform any comparable Android phones as has happened before.
We anticipate that the iPhone 15s in the United States will only be available with eSIM support, with no physical SIM card slot. However, in iPhone models sold outside of the United States, this may not still be the case.
Finally, the EU is mandating that all mobile device manufacturers adopt USB-C by 2024, so the iPhone 15 may include a feature that has been requested for a long time and make use of a USB-C port instead of Lightning. Apple is said to have been developing USB-C iPhone prototypes for some time now.
Although that is more convenient than the iPhone 14's Lightning port, one rumor suggests that the basic models may not differ in data or charging speed. USB-C data transfer speeds are only expected to be faster on the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra models.
iPhone 14 compared to iPhone 15: outlook
At this point, choosing between an iPhone 14 and an iPhone 15 is difficult. When it comes to the iPhone 15, there is still a lot we don't know, so if you need a phone right away, buying an iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro seems like a better option than waiting for the next iPhone.
It is probably best to wait for the iPhone 15 if you want the best telephoto camera, performance, display, and conveniences like USB-C and don't mind holding off on upgrading. However, the iPhone 14 series is a great option for shoppers right now if you need to upgrade sooner.
